In this installment of New Leaf Music’s Collection: New Wave, there are a few tracks that you may have heard before, and I few that I hope you come to enjoy.
New Wave targets anyone who likes chill, hip-hop and independent vibes. With artists spanning from Post Malone to BASECAMP + innumerable underground artists very few have heard of.
New Leaf aims to dig deep and find the music that is really coming up the charts quick, and especially the songs that never do. Hope you enjoy!
A name new to us is Dallas Hill, he dropped his first new wave banger in August 2016, titled Better and seems to have a promise of a melodic, bouncy sound, similar to Controlla or Fire & Desire released by Drake earlier in the year.
Following the Drake-type flow is Big Lean coming out of nowhere with an almost Jamaican sounding vibe in his upbeat track, Stamina. I thought the song had some corny lines in it the first few times I listened to it, but I just kept hearing it and really dig it now.
Another absolute banger is my personal favorite remix of Desiigner’s Timmy Turner, where Monte Booker made some fire drums that most people will get down to. Mixed with the eerie lyrics that you most likely won’t understand, its a classic.
